In Memory of David A. Grunow

David A. Grunow, 67, Greenfield, passed away February 21, 2016. David was born in Evansville, IN on December 13, 1948 to Donald and Norma (Evans) Grunow. He worked at the Army Finance Center since 1989. David was a veteran United States Marine Corps. He met his wife of nearly 47 years in Okinawa, where they raised three children, eventually moving back to Indiana in 1987.

David will be lovingly missed by his wife, Mineko (Shimojo) Grunow; children, David Grunow, Jr., Vickie Ream (Michael), and Michael Grunow (Sarah); grandchildren, Madison, Samantha, Simon, Lillian and Lucas Grunow; siblings, Donald Grunow, Jr., Erica Atkins, Steve Grunow, Wendy Long, and Fredrick Grunow. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Clayton.

In Memory of Toshiko (Goya) Wright

Toshiko Goya Wright, age 77, of Indianapolis, passed away February 16, 2016 at Community Hospital North. She was born on October 2, 1938 in Okinawa, Japan as the daughter of Shunju and Uto Goya. She married Jerry W. Wright on June 13, 1966 in Okinawa, Japan.

Toshiko worked for Indianapolis Public School #21 as a cook for 25 years before retiring in 2000. She was a member of Okinawa Yu-Yukai and Okinawa Kenjin Kai of Indiana.

She is survived by her daughter, Hiromi Leonard (husband Tom Leonard) of Greenfield; grandchildren, Schylor and Tomoko “Cookie”; sisters, Kamiko Wakuta, Fumiko Chinan and Masako Goya all of Okinawa, Japan; and brothers, Sayro Goya and Yoshiaki Goya, both of Okinawa, Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents Shunju and Uto; husband, Jerry; and sister, Takeko.

In Memory of Kimmie “Oba” Tomi Maiden

Kimmie "Oba" Tomi Maiden, 78, of Evansville, passed away peacefully Monday, July 27, 2015, at her home surrounded by the family to whom she dedicated her life.

She was born December 17, 1936, in Okinawa, Japan, where she met her late husband, Donald Maiden, Command Sergeant Major, US Army. She eventually moved to Indianapolis, IN, where she raised her two daughters, Cindy Maiden Basinski and Catherine Maiden Lee. Kimmie was a tailor of men's suits for many years until she retired to move to Evansville to help raise her precious grandchildren, Lauren, Chris, and Rachel. She enjoyed traditional Japanese dancing and was an active member of the Minyo Club of Indianapolis until she was diagnosed with cancer. Kimmie developed close friendships in Indianapolis and Evansville that she treasured until her death. She loved cooking and doing anything to help raise and care for her grandchildren. She cherished the years her grandchildren attended Holy Rosary School in Evansville and was fond of the wonderful teachers and classmates of her grandchildren.

Kimmie is survived by her daughters, Cindy and Cathy; son-in-law, Steve; and seven grandchildren.

There will be a prayer service for Kimmie at the home of Steve and Cindy Basinski on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Friends and family are welcome to join this celebration of Kimmie's life.
